This Privacy Policy explains how Torfin ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information related to the Torfin mobile application (the "App"). This document is written to meet Google Play's privacy policy requirements. By using the App you consent to the collection and use of information as described below.

We may collect the following categories of personal and device data in connection with your use of the App:

2. How we use collected data
- To provide core app features (search, start/pause/resume/complete torrent downloads, save files to device, and display download progress notifications).
- To manage runtime permissions and system notifications (the App requests notification permission to display progress).
- To diagnose and fix errors, improve performance, and analyze anonymous usage patterns (analytics and crash reporting).
- To respond to user support requests and to comply with legal obligations and copyright takedown notices.
3. Sharing & third parties
We do not sell personal data. We may share data with the following categories of third parties:
- Service providers: third-party vendors that perform services on our behalf (e.g., analytics, crash reporting, hosting). We require them to use data only to provide services to us and to maintain reasonable security.
- Legal & safety: when required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
If we ever transfer personal data in connection with a sale, merger, or acquisition, we will require the receiving party to honor the terms of this Privacy Policy and notify users where required by law.
4. Permissions & storage
The App requests only the permissions required for its functionality. Typical permissions include:
- Files & media (Storage): required to save and read files you download and to allow you to import files from device storage.
- Network access / Internet: required to connect to peers/trackers and download content.
- Notifications: required to display download status and progress notifications to the user.
Permissions are requested at runtime. You may revoke permissions in your device settings; revoking required permissions may prevent the App from functioning correctly.
5. Local storage of downloaded files
Files downloaded through the App are stored on your device (internal or external storage) in a folder you select. These files are not uploaded to our servers by default. We do not access the contents of your downloaded files except for metadata required to perform App functions (for example, file name, size, and download progress).
6. Advertising identifier & analytics
If the App uses the advertising ID (Advertising ID or similar), we will use it only for analytics and app measurement consistent with platform policies and user settings. You may reset or opt out of advertising personalization via your device settings.
7. Retention
We retain analytics, crash logs, and support records for operational and legal purposes for up to 24 months unless a different period is required by law. Files you download are retained on your device until you delete them; the App does not automatically remove user files.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect data. While we strive to protect information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure — you should take care when storing sensitive information on your device.
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us to request deletion.
10. User controls & choices
- Permissions: revoke app permissions in device settings at any time.
- Data access & deletion: to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we control, contact us using the information below. We will respond to verifiable requests in accordance with applicable law.
- Opting out: you may opt out of analytics tracking where device settings or an in‑app toggle is provided. Resetting your advertising ID in device settings also limits cross‑app advertising tracking.
11. Google Play requirements
To comply with Google Play Developer Program Policies, we disclose the data categories collected by the App (see section "Data collected — categories and examples"). We do not facilitate copyright infringement and will comply with valid copyright takedown requests. A copy of this Privacy Policy is provided in the App and linked on the Play Store listing.
12. International transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside your own where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we will take steps to protect your information consistent with this policy.
